Walloon
I drove by this spot several times during the day previously. It was filled with people just relaxing, enjoying their summer vacation before having to head back to their own realities in a few days/weeks. Around sunset, I drove by one final time on my way home to my grandmother’s house, and I had to almost slam on my brakes. The light caught my eye just right, and thankfully, I was prepared and had my camera bag with me.
As I stood on the banks of Walloon Lake during this breathtaking sunset, I was captivated by the way the light danced across the water's surface. The lake mirrored the deep oranges, purples, and blues of the sky, painting a tranquil and ethereal landscape before me.
I was completely absorbed in the moment and honestly almost forgot to take the picture. The collection of people gone for the day, my senses began heightening to the sounds of the waves lapping at the shore, the rustling of the leaves in the trees behind me, and the scent of the Earth rising up to meet me as I knelt down to the waters surface, trying hard to not let the waves kiss my camera.
The hills splitting the frame, separating the lake from sky and etched in shadow, created a natural transition for this serene world, emphasizing the stark contrast between light and dark. The vibrant hues of the sky were accentuated by the use of long exposure which usually highlights the colors in a piece because the surfaces smooth out and provide direct access to the things that bring your soul a little bit of peace.
Hopefully this piece invites you to pause, breathe deeply, and escape into this tranquil paradise, where you can let your imagination run wild.
This is a fine art Giclee print with a Deep Matte finish, meaning there are no glares, hot spots or reflections from the piece itself. The giclee printing process provides higher image detail than traditional photographic printing. Using 7 dye-based inks, Giclee Prints offer improved color reproduction, a wider color gamut, and enhanced image clarity.
When paired with an archival dry-mount and museum glass, this will look like a sealed painting and will be something that can be handed down through the family for decades.
